During our Executive Director, Dr. Kari L. Jordan’s, New Year address we annouced funding from the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative to provide three (3) Silver Carpentries memberships to institutions serving underrepresented groups in Central and South America and in Southern Africa for 2 years. A silver membership includes 2 Centrally-Organised workshops and 5 seats in online Instructor Training. In addition, membership includes the opportunity to send two (2) representatives to meetings of the Member Council, which meets approximately quarterly to discuss issues of importance to Member organisations.

I am writing to share that Al Obayuwana (former Director of Partnership) has departed The Carpentries effective 25 October. While we are sorry to see Al go, there will be minimal disruption to the efforts of our Membership Program, which will continue to be supported by our membership team - Angelique Trusler, Talisha Sutton-Kennedy, and Erin Becker as interim Team Lead.
